INDIANAPOLIS -- The IUPUI men's tennis team put up a good fight against the University of Dayton on Friday night, but came up just a bit short in a 5-2 loss at the Indianapolis Tennis Center.

#Gabriel Garcia# and #Gregory Sosa# were the lone winners for IUPUI (0-3), winning at Number 1 and Number 2 singles, respectively.No.

Garcia rallied to defeat Dayton's Michael Rohana, 4-6, 6-2, 1-0 to help the Jaguars pick up a much-needed point.  Sosa, playing at Number 2 singles for the first time this season, won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4 over Matt Sherman.

#E.J. Dechow#, playing up at No. 3 for the first time in his career, fell in straight sets, 3-6, 3-6, to James O'Connell.  #Jorge Yunes# likewise lost in straight sets, 4-6, 3-6.

At No. 5 singles, #Blake Powers# dropped a tough three-setter, 2-6, 7-5, 1-0, to Antonio Rodriguez, while at No. 6, #Jesus Diaz# lost, 4-6, 2-6.

Prior to singles play, Dayton swept the doubles to pick up a crucial point.  Garcia and Sosa narrowly lost at No. 1, falling 8-9 (4) in a tie break.  Yunes and Dechow suffered one break of service in their match to lose, 7-9, while Powers and #Josh Kutch# fell, 2-8 at No. 3.

The men's team will hit the road again, traveling to East Lansing, Mich., to face the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday, February 2.  The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
