IUPUI sophomore goalkeeper Alex Mannen has been named the Sahm's IUPUI Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of October 2010. The 6-foot-5 goalkeeper had a 4-0-1 record during the month, including a pair of shutouts and a 0.55 goals against average. He helped IUPUI compile a 5-3-1 record during the month and 3-2 mark in Summit League play as the Jaguars clinched a berth in the upcoming four-team postseason tournament.

Mannen's most impressive outing of the month came in the 0-0 double overtime tie at No. 7 Butler on Oct. 20. In that match, he tied his career-high with eight saves against the last remaining unbeaten and untied soccer team in all of NCAA Division I. Butler came in ranked No. 3 in the country in goals per game and with a seven-game winning streak against the Jaguars.

Mannen later blanked Centenary on Oct. 23 for his second shutout of the season and was later awarded Summit League Defensive Player of the Week on Oct. 24. His other wins of the month came against IPFW on Oct. 15, Cleveland State on Oct. 17 and versus Wright State on Oct. 26.

For the year, Mannen has a 5-0-1 record and 0.58 goals against average in his eight appearances. Overall, he has yielded just four goals in over 620 minutes played and leads The Summit in GAA and save percentage.
