Junior outside hitter Kaitlyn Hickey has been named the IUPUI Female Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of October after helping the IUPUI volleyball team post a 7-2 record.
The Granger, Ind.-native led the Jaguars in kills for the month averaging 3.88 kps, and also hit at an impressive .284. She reached double-figure kills in eight of nine matches, which includes a 20-kill performance in a four-set win over Oral Roberts on Oct. 20.
Earlier in the month at Oral Roberts, Hickey claimed her 1,000th career kill on becoming the 11th player in school history to reach the career milestone. After already reaching 1,000 career digs back in September, she is the fourth player in program history to post 1,000 career kills and digs.
