Junior men's cross country runner #Chase Kaufman# has been chosen IUPUI's Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the months of August/September 2009. The Purdue-transfer was IUPUI's top finisher in two of the team's first three meets of the season for Head Coach #Chuck Koeppen#.
He opened the season as IUPUI's No. 2 runner at the Dayton Flyer 5K Challenge, covering the course in a time of 15:34. The following weekend, he finished second of 58 runners at the IPFW Invitational on Sept. 12, crossing the finish line in a time of 25:42.70. He helped the Jaguars claim their first invitational title since the 2002 season, edging Summit League rival Oakland by just three points.
At the Indiana Intercollegiates meet on Sept. 18, he finished 16th of 170 runners by running the race in a time of 25:48.
He ran IUPUI's two fastest 8K's of the month, led by his time at IPFW.
