IUPUI sophomore men's golfer has been selected the Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of March. Engle led the Jaguars with a 74.5 stroke average in six rounds during the month and helped IUPUI to its first tournament title since the 2004-05 season.
Engle started the month hot, turning in a 36-hole 143 (-1) at the JSU Grub Mart-Young Oil Intercollegiate in Glencoe, Ala. on March 16-17. Engle tied for fourth among the 81-player field while his 143 tied for the fourth-lowest two round score in IUPUI history. He was later picked The Summit League Men's Golfer of the Week for his efforts.
The following week Engle turned in a 154 as the Jaguars came from behind to capture the BU Spring Invite title at Prestwick Country Club in Avon, Ind.. IUPUI entered the final round in fourth-place, but carded a final round 295 to edge Youngstown State by three shots.
Engle ended the month with a 150 at the weather shortened BSU Cardinal Collegiate at Sultan's Run Golf Club in Jasper, Ind..
For the season, Engle is second on the squad with a 74.67 stroke average and ranks fourth with 15 rounds played.
