IUPUI men's swimming standout #Tyler McGowan# has been chosen as the IUPUI Male Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of October. McGowan was selected as The Summit League Swimming Men's Athlete of the Month twice during the month.
The Vincennes Lincoln-product turned in some of the conference's top times in October, posting a 1:46.41 in the 200 freestyle on Oct. 10, which currently ranks as the fifth-quickest in the conference. In the 200 IM, McGowan's time of 1:59.45 places him fourth in The Summit.
In the Jaguars' dual meet with Eastern Illinois, McGowan took first place in three events - the 200 butterfly, 200 free and the 200 IM. For his effort, he was named Summit League Athlete of the Week on Oct. 15.
He took home the honors again on Oct. 22 following his team-best performance at the Indiana Intercollegiates Meet at Purdue. McGowan continued his strong early-season performance with an 8th-place finish in the 200 IM. He followed it up with a 10th-place showing in the 100 butterfly, swimming in at 54.17.
