Biography
2010-11: Broke three individual school records and helped break one relay school record at the 2011 Summit League Championships … became an all-conference performer in the 400 IM with a third-place showing after breaking his own school record in the finals with a time of 4:04.15 … finished fifth in the 500 freestyle and set a new program best in the event timing in at 4:40.47 in the preliminaries … rounded out his individual performances with another school record in the 200 butterfly touching the wall in 1:52.59 … anchored the 800 freestyle relay squad that set a new school record with a mark of 7:05.18 … part of the 400 medley relay team that posted the seventh-best time in program history at the Summit League Championships with 3:33.67 … moved into second in school history in the 1,000 freestyle missing out on Taylor Williamson’s school-best mark by 0.4 seconds with a time of 9:53.43 in a dual meet win at Valparaiso … set IUPUI’s single-season record for podium finishes with 28, which included 15 wins … finished his career with 66 career podiums, moving him into fourth place all-time in that category … also finished fourth all-time in career wins with 36.
2008-09: Posted one of the best individual seasons in IUPUI men's swimming and diving history, tallying 22 podiums and 15 individual victories ... Set school record in the 400 IM on Feb. 19, touching the wall in 4:07.52 at The Summit League Championships ... 22 podiums were the seventh-most in a single season at IUPUI, while the 15 wins were the most by a Jaguar swimmer in school history, trailing only diver Jaron Tuttle's 17 wins in 2006-07 ... Named Summit League Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week three times in 2008-09 - Oct. 14, Oct. 21 and Feb. 10 .. Currently sits eighth in school history with 20 wins and his 28 career podiums are 17th.
2007-08: In his first year with IUPUI, posted six podium finishes, including setting a school record in the 200 butterfly in his first meet with the Jaguars on Jan. 11 ... McGowan swam that 200 fly in 1:54.94 ... Named Summit League Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week on Jan. 15.
