Freshman first baseman Taylor Chitwood has been named the IUPUI Student-Athlete of the Month for the month of May after helping the Jags pick up a pair of postseason victories at the 2014 Summit League Softball Championships.

For the month, Chitwood hit .350 with two home runs and nine RBI to pace the Jaguars offensive attack.

During the Summit League Tournament, Chitwood went 5-for-5 in IUPUI's win over eventual tournament champion North Dakota State and drove in a career-high six runs. Her five hits and six RBI were both Summit League Tournament records. Prior to the tournament, Chitwood was named a First-Team All-Summit League performer.
