Senior basketball player Darell Combs has been named IUPUI Male Athlete of the Month for December 2016. The Chicago-native averaged a team-high 19.3 points per game and led the Jaguars to a 5-3 overall mark and 1-0 start to Summit League play. 

Combs hit 47.4 percent from the floor and 42 percent of his three-point attempts, draining 20-of-48 attempts for the month. 

He matched his season-high with two 28-point efforts during the month, including in the Summit League opening win over Western Illinois on Dec. 31. He also connected on 6-of-7 threes in the victory over Urbana en route to 28 points. He opened the month with a 21-point effort in the come-from-behind win over Ball State.

For the month, he scored in double-digits in seven of eight games and hit for 20-or-more four times.
