INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indy softball team dropped the series finale to Youngstown State, 9-6, on Sunday afternoon at home.
 
The Jaguars fell behind early as the Penguins plated three runs in the first inning and broke the game open with a five-run second to take an 8-0 lead. Youngstown State added another run in the sixth to extend its advantage to 9-2.
 
IU Indy chipped away throughout the middle innings, getting on the board in the third and fourth. Molly Kable drove in a run in the fourth, while the Jaguars continued to put pressure on offensively with eight total hits in the contest.
 
The Jags saved their biggest push for the seventh inning. Alexa Holman delivered an RBI single before Tori Candler launched a three-run home run to cut the deficit to 9-6, but IU Indy couldn't complete the comeback.
 
Candler led the way with three RBI, while Kable and Holman each recorded multi-hit games.
 
IU Indy will return to action next weekend when the Jaguars host Northern Kentucky to close out the regular season.
