OWENS CROSS ROADS, Ala. - The IU Indianapolis women's golf team will return to action this week when the Jaguars participate in the Huntsville.org Intercollegiate at the RTJ Golf Trail at Hampton Cove. The 54-hole event will consist of two rounds on Monday (Mar. 2) and a final round on Tuesday (Mar. 3). 

The Jaguars enter the event with a team scoring average of 318.94, keyed by freshman Li (Sherry) Xia, who owns a 77.14 mark. Behind her, senior Yanah Rolston checks in at 79.24 and freshman Olivia Aronhalt is third on the squad with an 81.41 stroke average. 

Xia was the initial Horizon League Women's Golf Player of the Week honoree after a 54-hole 226 at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate on Feb. 10-11, finishing tied for 32nd among the 84-player field.

"Honestly, it's just been so nice to be out here. The warm weather, the palm trees and the quality of the grass make it such a great place to compete. We haven't played on conditions like this in a long time, so we're really enjoying every moment. It's been a great start for us!" Xia said following the spring opener at Wigwam Resort in Litchfield Park, Ariz.

THE COURSE
Hampton Cove is the Northern gateway of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, which consists of 11 championship courses spanning over 100 miles of golf in Alabama. The course encompasses 26 ponds and features bent grass greens. 

THE FIELD
The 10-team field includes Austin Peay, Bellarmine, Belmont, Eastern Illinois, IU Indy, Indiana State, Merrimack, North Alabama, Samford and UAB.

LAST TIME OUT
IU Indy opened the spring with a 54-hole 938 (317-309-312) at the BGSU Women's Intercollegiate, placing 14th of 15 teams. Xia was the team's top finisher at 226 (71-75-80), earning Horizon League Player of the Week for her efforts.
