JAGS EARN THREE INDIVIDUAL TITLES IN FINAL DAY OF #HLSD CHAMPIONSHIPS

INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy men's and women's swim and dive teams closed out the Horizon League Championships with three individual titles.
 
The Jags also took home some individual hardware with Yassin Abdelghany earning the Men's Swimmer of the Meet, Sebastian Otero earning another Men's Diver of the Meet and Alaina Heyde taking the Women's Diver of the Meet. Head coach Damion Dennis was named Men's Swimming Coach of the Year while Eric Barnes earned both the Men's and Women's Diving Coach of the Year.
 
Starting the final night of the championships was the 1650 free. Bella Tufts took fourth overall with a time of 17:15.93 while Youssef Magdy made the podium on the men's side in third (15:26.88). Luke Parsons took seventh at 15:35.47 and Nathan Rariden took eighth with a time of 15:41.15.
 
Next up was the 200 backstroke. On the women's side, Addy Hirsbrunner took fourth (1:59.62) while Chloe Yerkes took seventh (2:03.67). Aubrey Hollis took eleventh. For the men, Grayson Tidwell earned another podium with a third-place finish at 1:44.32. Jack Gallob took eighth (1:47.96), Carson Szotek took eleventh (1:48.10) and Seth Cannon took 14th (1:50.08).
 
In the 100 free, Luca McGee took second with a time of 50.34. Kyrah Kittleson finished in 15th (53.05) and Grace Sharp took 16th (53.62).
 
On the men's side, Abdelghany set his third Horizon League Championship record, earning the men's 100 free title and once again earning a spot at the NCAA Championships with a time of 42.28. Hugo Arteaga took eighth with a time of 44.42 while Shane Tebeest took 12th (44.66).
 
The Jags then took to the pool for the 200 breast. On the women's side, Victoria Surdyka earned ninth (2;21.31), Kaylee Dexter took 15th (2:26.08) and Sadie Leininger finished in 16th (2:28.48).
 
For the men's team in the 200 breast, Logan Kelly punched his ticket to the NCAA Championship, breaking his own Horizon League Championship record time, with a fast time of 1:52.21 for the title. Zach Drotar took sixth with a time of 1:58.56 and Jack Paull took 12th at 2:01.45.
 
In the 200 fly, Mady Hill took seventh (2:07.86), Lydia Zenobi earned ninth (2:07.37), Dani Stemper took eleventh (2:08.07) and Maddy Weber finished in 15th (2:11.97). On the men's side, Isaac Wilson earned a podium finishing in third at 1:46.82. Will Gorman took sixth at 1:48.66. Noah Van Zuidam won the consolation finals for ninth with a time of 1:47.71 while Carson Szotek took 12th (1:49.10).
 
After the fly, the Jags took to the diving boards for the men's 3-meter. Sebastion Otero remained undefeated in the Horizon League earning his eighth overall individual title and fourth 3-meter title with a score of 389.55. Blake VanderJeugdt finished closely behind in second at 354.45. Evan Butcher rounded out the podium in third with a score of 351.30. Gavin Day finished in fifth with a score of 300.50 while Declan Taylor took 12th at 218.15.
 
The night was wrapped up with the 400 free relay. The women's team of Bella Tufts, Addy Hirsbrunner, Chloe Yerkes and Luca McGee took fifth with a time of 3:26.27. The men's team of Nathan Rariden, Yassin Abdelghany, Hugo Arteaga and Shane Tebeest took second with a time of 2:54.82.
 
After the final event, the women's team finished in the third with a total of 530 points behind Youngstown State (641) and Oakland (896.5). The men's team finished in second with 785.5 points behind Oakland.
