IU INDY SWEEPS YOUNGSTOWN STATE AND CLEVELAND STATE IN HOME TRI-MEET

The Jags recorded several first places finished across the three sessions

INDIANAPOLIS — The IU Indy swimming and diving teams put together a strong performance at the IU Indy Natatorium, with both the Jaguars' men's and women's teams earning victories over Youngstown State and Cleveland State. The IU Indy men defeated Youngstown State, 285-49, and Cleveland State, 207-127, while the women also topped Youngstown State, 244-86, and Cleveland State, 180-152.
 
The IU Indy women opened the meet with a victory in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Addy Hirsbrunner, Vicky Surdyka, Dani Stemper and Luca McGee touched first in 1:42.59.
 
Surdyka continued her strong meet by winning the 200 individual medley in 2:08.07, while McGee captured the 50 freestyle in 23.36. Stemper added a victory in the 100 butterfly, finishing in 56.90, and Ibarra Marina won the 200 freestyle in 1:53.32. Surdyka picked up another individual win in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:03.76, while Aubrey Hollis won the 100-yard backstroke in 56.00.
 
IU Indy also claimed the 200-yard freestyle relay, with McGee, Ibarra, Hirsbrunner and Surdyka combining for a winning time of 1:35.02. The Jaguars closed the meet with another relay victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, as McGee, Hirsbrunner, Ibarra and Bella Tufts finished in 3:29.97.
 
On the men's side, IU Indy won the opening 200-yard medley relay in 1:27.93 behind Jack Gallob, Shane Tebeest, Hugo Arteaga and Yassin Abdelghany.
 
Hayden Lynam won the 200 individual medley in 1:50.08, followed by a strong IU Indy showing that saw Zach Drotar finish second in 1:50.21, Logan Poswinski third in 1:52.25 and Noah Van Zuidam fourth in 1:52.28. Abdelghany turned in a pair of victories, winning the 50-yard freestyle in 19.39 and the 100-yard butterfly in 47.05. Logan Poswinski added a win in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 3:59.76, while Luke Parsons captured the 1000 freestyle in 9:33.19. Gallob won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:48.73, and Abdelghany also claimed the 100-yard freestyle in 44.26.
 
The Jaguars continued their dominance in the breaststroke and butterfly events. Drotar won the 200-yard breaststroke in 1:59.98, with Poswinski taking third in 2:03.95 and Lynam finishing fourth in 2:07.30.
 
In the 200-yard butterfly, Nathan Rariden led an IU Indy sweep of the top three spots, winning in 1:49.19 ahead of Van Zuidam in 1:50.00 and William Gorman in 1:51.43. Rariden also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle in 1:38.94, just behind Cleveland State's Jaden Davillier.
 
IU Indy's relays provided another highlight for the men. The Jaguars won the 200-yard freestyle relay in 1:19.55 behind Abdelghany, Rariden, Keaton Barwick and Tebeest. The same quartet closed the meet with a victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 2:58.83.
 
The Jaguars also earned a pair of diving victories on the men's side. Kirby Danglade won the 1-meter competition with a score of 264.00, while Evan Butcher finished second with 259.85. In the 3-meter, Danglade once again led the Jags, finishing in second with a score of 265.40.
 
On the women's boards, Lindi Jenkins was IU Indy's top finisher, placing third on the 1-meter event with 213.75 and second in the 3-meter competition with 227.65.
 
Overall, the Jaguars delivered a dominant performance across the two-day meet, collecting individual and relay victories throughout the swimming program while also earning strong results on the diving boards. They will next host the IU Indy Invite on October 3 in the IU Indy Natatorium.
