ROCHESTER, Mich. - The IU Indianapolis men's golf team will be back in action this weekend when the Jaguars participate in the Golden Grizzlies Intercollegiate, hosted by Oakland University. Teams are scheduled for 36 holes of continuous play on Saturday (Sept. 13), followed by a final round on Sunday (Sept. 14).
Head coach
Jamie Broce's lineup consists of three veterans and two new faces this week. Junior
Titus Boswell mans the top spot on the heels of an all-conference campaign last season, while two members of the lineup made their collegiate debuts last week in
Keaton Parmley and
Jack Scudder. Veterans
Noah Kirsch and
Brady Schier also return to the lineup for the season's second event.
The Jaguars opened the season with a 12th-place finish at the Bryan National, shooting a 54-hole 910. The tournament was originally slated for a 36-hole opening day and a final round on day two, but was shifted to an opening 18 and final day 36 due to inclement weather. Boswell had the team's best round of the event with an opening round, 2-under 70.
QUOTABLE
"It was a good first experience to get under my belt. I struggled yesterday with my driver, which was unusual. I played much better today and hit it pretty good the entire weekend. Lots to build on for the rest of the season," Parmley said after his debut at the Bryan National Collegiate.
THE COURSE
The Oakland University Golf & Learning Center is home to two courses - the Katke-Cousins Course and R&S Sharf Course. Both have ranked among the state's top facilities by Golf Digest and The Detroit News.
THE FIELD
The 14-team field consists of Alabama State, Boston College, Delaware, Gardner-Webb, IU Indianapolis, LaSalle, Queens, Samford, UNCG, Valparaiso, Wake Forest, William & Mary, Winthrop and Wofford.
