CHARLESTON, Ill. - The IU Indianapolis women's soccer team will open the season's second week on the road on Thursday (Aug. 21) as the Jaguars take on Eastern Illinois (0-2) at 3:00 p.m. CT (4 Eastern) on ESPN+. The Jaguars (0-1) opened the season with a 2-1 home loss to SIUE a week ago in their lone match of opening week. Junior

Olivia Hopper earned an assist in her collegiate debut. Graduate transfer
Sarah Bambrick made three saves in net her IU Indy debut.
Offensively, the Jaguars earned an 18-11 shot advantage and 9-1 margin on corner kicks, but were unable to capitalize on created opportunities.
Emma Frey and
Anika Guenther had a team-high four shots apiece while Hopper and
Lilly Ma had two each. Frey played all 90 minutes in the midfield while senior
Kailyn Smith and sophomore
Bethany Hartigan played 90 each in the defensive third. Guenther, a true freshman, was awarded a start in her collegiate debut while four other freshmen made their collegiate debuts off the bench.
QUOTABLE
"We competed, but we just had a couple mistakes and we all learn from mistakes and we know that. As they assured me, things will get better and I told them the same thing, so we'll just learn from this," White said following the season opening loss to SIUE.
SCOUTING EIU
EIU is 0-2 to start the season, having suffered road losses at Southern Illinois and Akron. The Panthers were blanked in both matches and been outscored 5-0 to start the campaign. The Panthers have started two different keepers to start the year with Ella Kratochvil yielding just one goal in the loss at Akron while making six saves.
INSIDE THE SERIES
IU Indy is 3-5-3 all-time against Eastern Illinois and 2-2-1 in the five meetings in Charleston. The Jags are 3-1-3 in the last seven meetings including winning last year's matchup 2-0 in Indianapolis on the strength of goals from
Caroline Kelley and
Ella Green.
