URBANA, Ill. - IU Indianapolis men's golf sophomore
Titus Boswell carded a second round, 2-over 73 at the NCAA Urbana Regional on Tuesday (May 13) at Atkins Golf Club, ending day two at 152 (79-73) for the week. Boswell climbed five spots in the standings, closing day two tied for 68th among the 79 players competing.
UNLV's Caden Fioroni climbed atop the leaderboard at 7-under while two others are tied for second at 6-under. Host Illinois continues to lead the team standings at 558, followed closely by Oklahoma State (561), UNLV (561) and Texas Tech (566).
Boswell got off to a great start, making birdie on the first hole of the day, which proved to be the easiest hole on the course during round two. He followed with three straight pars, including the tough par-3, No. 4. After giving a shot back with a bogey on No. 5, he once again made three straight pars ahead of a birdie on the par-3, No. 9, closing his front nine at 1-under 35. He immediately dropped back to even with a bogey on No. 10 and then made bogeys on 12 and 13 to slide to 2-over. He was clean for the remainder of the round, finishing with five straight pars and a round of 73. The final three holes ranked among the toughest four on the course for the round, signaling a strong end to the sophomore's day.
The Monrovia, Ind.-native will round out the NCAA Regional with a final 18 holes tomorrow at the University of Illinois.
