MUNCIE, Ind. - The IU Indianapolis women's track and field squad began action at Ball State's We Fly Challenge on Friday (Apr. 11) with a select few athletes participating in field events at the Briner Sports Complex.
Journey Howard topped the IU Indy entries in the high jump while
Shelby McGee was tops among the Jaguar entries in the javelin throw, placing third overall.
McGee's best throw came on her final delivery of the day with a mark of 32.94m (108' 1''), nudging just past teammate
Paige Laffoon. Laffoon finished fourth at 32.28m (105' 11'') and
Morgan Hoard was sixth with a personal best mark of 30.26m (99' 3'') as she topped 30 meters for the first time in her collegiate career.
In the high jump, Howard matched her own school record with a best jump of 1.60m (5' 3''), placing ninth overall. Hoard had a best mark of 1.45m (4' 9'') on Friday.
Jaguars will compete in a full slate of events on Saturday (Apr. 12) with events beginning at 10:00 a.m.
