WESTLAKE, Ohio - Redshirt freshman
Keaton Parmley turned in a 4-under 67 and the IU Indianapolis men's golf team put up its best round of the tournament on day two of the Tom Tontimonia Invitational at Lakewood Country Club. The Jaguars recorded a final round, 1-over 285 on Tuesday (Oct. 7) en route to a fifth-place finish among the 10-team field at 868 (292-291-285).
"It was a complete turnaround from yesterday," Parmley said. "I didn't hit it completely horrible yesterday, but wasn't in the best mindset throughout the day. Today, I hit it slightly better and got more putts to drop. It was a fun round to bounce back from a really rough day yesterday."
Individually, junior
Titus Boswell finished off a top-10 finish at even par 213 (69-73-71) with a final round 71.
Parmley was bogey after making bogey on his second hole of the final round, playing his final 16 holes to 5-under on the day. Boswell turned in an even par 71, shaking off a double bogey on his seventh hole of the round by making birdie on four of his next seven holes.
Junior
Brady Schier had four birdies as part of his 2-over 73 and senior
Noah Kirsch shot 3-over 74. Freshman
Jack Scudder registered a round of 6-over 77 while both
Preston Broce and
Noah Parsetich shot 5-over 76 while playing as an individual.
Behind Boswell, both Kirsch and Schier finished tied for 30th overall at 219 and Broce was the team's top individual at 224.
The Jaguars topped the field in par-3 scoring and tied for the tournament lead with 45 birdies. Boswell was tops overall with 14 birdies while Kirsch had a team-high 37 pars.
Green Bay won the event at 852 and Oakland was second at 858. Green Bay's Mason Haupt earned medalist honors at 5-under 208.
The Jags will be back in action on Oct. 13-14 when they compete at The Scrappy at Cobblestone in Acworth, Ga.
