IU INDY SWEEPS OAKLAND AT HOME

Jaguars dominate in straight sets behind strong team effort

INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indianapolis volleyball team put themselves back in the win column with a convincing 3–0 sweep (25–12, 25–22, 25–21) over Oakland on Thursday evening inside the Jungle. The win lifts the Jaguars to 12–10 overall and 6–4 in Horizon League play.

IU Indy came out firing, hitting an efficient .333 in the opening set while holding Oakland to a negative attack percentage. Morgan Ostrowski and Maia Long led the early charge with multiple kills apiece, and the Jaguars' front line tallied six team blocks to seize control. A kill from Elle Patterson capped a dominant 25–12 win.

The Golden Grizzlies pushed back in the second frame, trading points through the middle stages. Jillian Tippmann provided steady offense with six kills in the set while setter Grace Purichia kept the attack balanced with pinpoint distribution. A late kill by Ostrowski sealed the 25–22 victory, giving IU Indy a 2–0 lead.

Oakland kept the third set close early with improved defense, but IU Indy's balanced attack proved too much. Ostrowski and Tippmann combined for key late kills while libero Laura Roeder added an ace to help secure momentum. Purichia's final kill clinched the sweep at 25–21.

Ostrowski led the Jaguars with 12 kills and five total blocks, while Tippmann followed with 13 kills. Purichia recorded 37 assists and five digs while Roeder anchored the back row with 12 digs. IU Indy finished with 40 kills, six aces and seven total team blocks while limiting Oakland to just .010 hitting.

The Jags and Golden Grizzlies are set for a 2:00 PM rematch tomorrow, Saturday, October 25.
