"I saw a lot of good things," head coach
Jamie Broce said. "They call this course Mission Impossible for a reason. It has some holes that can just beat you up and punish you if you don't keep it in play or put yourself in good positions. We managed the back nine much better than the front, so we have some momentum going into tomorrow's round.Â
"I'm excited to see how our young ladies respond tomorrow to the challenge."
Busker got to 2-under early with birdies on Nos. 1 and 3, but gave them back with back-to-back double bogeys on Nos. 4 and 5. She was at 4-over 40 at the turn and followed with an even par 37 on the back nine. Fox was also under par early, playing the first five holes to 1-under before moving to 3-over 39 by the turn. She shot 41 on the back as part of her opening round 80.Â
Like Busker, Pape played the back nine to even par with a pair of birdies as she and Fox are both tied for 12th at 7-over 80. Rolston is tied for 30th at 85 and Lancho is tied for 35th at 87.Â
Busker is second among the field with four birdies while IUPUI is also second overall with eight as a team. The Jags tied atop the field with their par-3 scoring, but ranked near the bottom on par-5 scoring on Saturday.Â
The Jaguars will tee off at 8:20 a.m. on Sunday off hole No. 10 and be paired with Purdue Fort Wayne for a second straight day.Â
