INDIANAPOLIS - After ending its last tournament after 36 holes due to weather, the IUPUI women's golf team will again deal with wet conditions this weekend as it hosts the Lady Jaguar Invitational. The 11-team field will play 18 holes on Saturday (Apr. 13) before playing a final round on Sunday (Apr. 14) at Carmel's Plum Creek Golf Club.
The Jaguars are coming off a T-9 finish at EKU's Colonel Classic, where Madeline Pape led the team with a 3-over 147 (71-76). The senior registered her first top-10 of the season, placing fifth. Fellow senior,
Annaliese Fox, leads the team with a 75.29 scoring average and three top-10 finishes while classmate
Shelby Busker sits at 76.00 and a top-10 finish. The team will rely heavily on the three seniors and their experience to carry them throughout the weekend.
FORMAT: Teams will play 5-count-4 format with rounds on Saturday (Apr. 13) and Sunday (Apr. 14).
THE COURSE: Plum Creek is scheduled to play par 72 and 6,157 yards this weekend. The Pete Dye design features strategically placed bunkers, undulating greens and multiple water features that challenge all types of golfers. The course has hosted multiple championships, including the 2008 and 2009 Horizon League Championships.
THE FIELD: The 11-team field consists of Akron, Ball State, Butler, Cleveland State, DePauw, Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IUPUI, Illinois State, Marian, Northern Kentucky and Ohio. All total, 77 players are expected to compete this weekend.
RANKINGS: IUPUI is currently ranked No. 212 in the country with a 50-47-1 mark against other Division I teams this season.
