INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI men's tennis team earned a big home victory against Marquette on Saturday afternoon, 5-2. Kamil Kozerski, Steven Paz, Noah Viste and Eli Mercer all collected singles points to lead the Jags to victory.

"Good win for the boys," said head coach Bren Vasalakis. "We came out early and controlled the momentum by winning the doubles point and winning five of the six first sets in singles. I have to give credit to Marquette for fighting back into the match and pushing four of the singles matches to three sets. We stayed tough throughout and found a way to get it done! Proud of the effort by our guys."
 
IUPUI came out strong, taking the doubles point for the early lead. Paz and Luka Rodic earned the win in the number three spot, 6-1, then Viste and Will Thurin sealed the point with a win at number two doubles, 6-4. Emil Jankowski and Kozerski were up, 5-3 when their match went unfinished.
 
With an early edge, the Jags moved to singles play. Kozerski earned the number one singles win in two sets, 7-5, 6-4. Paz took the number three singles match in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 while Viste earned the number four singles win in three sets, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3. Mercer earned the fifth point for the Jags in the number six spot in three sets, 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.
 
Jankowski fell in the number two spot, 6-4, 7-5 and Rodic rounded out the lineup in the number five spot where he lost in three sets 7-5, 5-7, 6-4.
 
The Jags improve to 3-3 on the season and will next travel to Dayton tomorrow, Sunday, February 4 for a 3:00 PM first serve.
