INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy volleyball team earned the weekend sweep over the Cleveland State Vikings with a 3-1 victory on Saturday afternoon. Elle Patterson totaled 14 kills to lead the IU Indy attack.
 
The first set was evenly matched, with both teams exchanging leads and keeping the lead within two points. Trailing late at 25-24, the Jaguars rallied with three consecutive points including back-to-back kills followed by a service ace from Addie Evans, securing the first set 27-25.
 
In set two, the Jaguars found their rhythm, hitting their highest mark of the match at .333 with 11 kills and two service aces. They took the 2-0 lead with the 25-17 second set victory.
 
Cleveland State were not backing down as they took the third set, 25-20. The Vikings leveraged six blocks to claim the third set victory and forcing the fourth set, despite both teams totaling 14 kills. 
 
The fourth set was tied at 5-5 until the Jags went on a five point run, forcing a Vikings' timeout. Keeping the momentum, IU Indy secured the set at 25-20, sealing the four-set match.
 
Elle Patterson led the Jags with a double-double, posting 14 kills and 11 digs. Grace Purichia added an impressive 42 assists, 16 digs and four aces. Briana Brown contributed 11 kills, while Addie Evans led the defense with 17 digs.
 
The Jags will next host Green Bay next weekend for a Friday/Saturday series. IU Indy will also celebrate their seniors on Saturday.
