INDIANAPOLIS - IU Indianapolis men's redshirt freshman Luke Shappell has been named the #HLXC Men's Freshman of the Week for his efforts at the Notre Dame Joe Piane Invitational last week. 

The Leo, Ind.-native ran a new personal best 8K time of 25:12.6 at the Joe Piane Invite on Friday (Oct. 4), placing 55th of 158 runners. In doing so, he shed 37 seconds off his previous best effort and helped IU Indianapolis to an eighth-place finish in the team standings.

It marks the second time this season that Shappell has earned Freshman of the Week honors.
