INDIANAPOLIS - Two members of the IU Indianapolis men's and women's cross country teams earned Horizon League All-Academic Team honors, as announced by the league office on Wednesday (Nov. 19). Redshirt sophomore Luke Shappell was among 10 individuals selected to the All-Academic Team while sophomore Ella Colclesser earned honorable mention honors. 

Shappell earned All-Academic Team honors for the second straight year after earning First Team All-Horizon League honors by virtue of his 7th place finish at the league championships. Shappell missed the IU Indy school record by two seconds at the Horizon League Championships with an 8K time of 24:08.7. He closed the season as the team's top finisher in four of his five entries this season, including capping the year with a 52nd-place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional. Academically he's maintained a 3.86 grade point average while majoring in biology. 

Colclesser was an honorable mention pick after placing 26th overall at the Horizon League Cross Country Championships with a personal best 6K time of 22:04.9. She was among the team's top three finishers in five meets this season and was the team's No. 2 finisher at the Rumble in the Fort on Sept. 20. Academically, Colclesser has maintained a 4.0 grade point average while studying nursing.
