ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IU Indy volleyball team dominated the service line with 10 aces while Briana Brown totaled 15 kills to secure the 3-0 sweep over the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.
 
The Jaguars started strong in the first set, taking it 25-21. IU Indy totaled 19 kills in the opening set compared to Oakland's 12 to establish the early momentum. The Jags also served up four service aces to set the tone for the match.
 
The second set came down to the very end with IU Indy taking a late lead to secure the second set at 25-23. Oakland and IU Indy traded the lead back-and-forth until the Golden Grizzlies went on an 8-1 run to hold a late lead. The Jaguars responded tying the set at 23-23. After an Oakland timeout, IU Indy closed out the set with back-to-back kills from Morgan Ostrowski and Brown to secure the set.
 
In the final set, the Jaguars dominated with a score of 25-14. They recorded a total of 16 kills compared to Oakland's six. The Jags showcased a dominate hitting performance with a .560 hitting percentage, sealing the third set victory.
 
Grace Purichia was a key performer for the Jags with a season-high six service aces along with 37 assists and 14 digs. Brown led the offense with 15 kills while Elle Patterson contributed 12 kills with a hitting percentage of .360. Ostrowski added eight kills with a .889 hitting percentage. As a team, the Jaguars excelled with a total of 10 service aces.
 
IU Indy and Oakland will battle it out again tomorrow with a 2:00 PM first serve.
