ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IU Indy volleyball team fell in straight sets to the Golden Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon, 3-0. The Golden Grizzlies flipped the script after the Jags swept Oakland in Friday night's match.
Elle Patterson led the attack with eight kills.
In the first set, Oakland established the tone early, hitting .314 with 15 kills compared to the Jaguars .111 hitting percentage. The Jags couldn't get around the Golden Grizzlies block as they stuffed the Jags four times in the first set, ultimately taking set one, 25-19.
The Jaguars feel further behind in the second set, dropping to 0-2 at 25-16. IU Indy saw their worst hitting percentage of the match at .061 as the Golden Grizzlies took control of the match.
IU Indy didn't want to go home swept as they took the lead in the third set. They held the lead at 21-16 before Oakland went on an 8-0 run to reach match point at 24-21, forcing an IU Indy timeout. Following the timeout, the Jags took a point back at 24-22 prompting an Oakland timeout. After the Golden Grizzlies timeout, Oakland sealed the win at 25-22.
Patterson led the Jaguars attack with eight kills while
Addie Evans led the defense with nine digs.
Grace Purichia contributed with 29 assists.
The Jaguars move to 10-14 on the season and 4-7 in Horizon League play. They will look to bounce back when they welcome Purdue Fort Wayne to the Jungle on Tuesday, October 29. The Mastodons and Jaguars are set for a 7:00 PM first serve.
