YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The IU Indianapolis volleyball team left Youngstown with a win after securing the reverse sweep over the Penguins, 3-2.
Briana Brown and
Elle Patterson each tallied 16 kills to lead the Jaguars' attack.
The match started with Youngstown state taking control, winning the first two sets. The Penguins took the opening set, 25-18 followed by a dominated second set, 25-10. The Jags hit -0.50 to fall behind two sets to none.
IU Indy refused to leave Youngstown on a bad note. They rallied in the third set, winning a tight 26-24 match to shift the momentum in their favor. The Jags continued their comeback in the fourth set, earning a 25-20, forcing the decisive fifth set.
In the final set, IU Indy recorded their best hitting percentage of the match with a .429 mark to edge out the Penguins, 15-12.
Patterson and Brown added a significant boost to the offense with their 16 kills each.
Grace Purichia aided the attack with 44 assists while
Jordyn Pax led the defense with 23 digs.
The win boosts the Jags to a 3-6 record in Horizon League play. IU Indy hopes to build on the momentum when they travel to Oakland next weekend for back-to-back matches on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26.
