LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The IUPUI women's soccer team will put its unbeaten mark on the line this week when the Jaguars take on Bellarmine on Thursday night (Aug. 24) before hosting SIUE on Sunday (Aug. 27) at Carroll Stadium. The Jaguars have opened the year with back-to-back 2-0 home victories.
The Jaguars picked off Southern Indiana in the opener thanks to goals from
Shannon Ott and
Caroline Kelley and then knocked off Southern Illinois by the same score with tallies from
Sam Slimak and
Jessica Jacobs. Senior
Emma Antoine leads the IUPUI attack with two assists while Slimak has fired a team-high nine shots.
Defensively, junior
Ashton Kudlo has played 162 scoreless minutes in goal, earning both victories. Sophomore
Kailyn Smith has become the most dependable back in the season's early going, having played a team-high 144 minutes while freshman
Katie Hoog has played 112 minutes along the back line.
IUPUI was one of three Horizon League teams to open the year with a pair of wins, joining Robert Morris and Youngstown State.
SCOUTING BELLARMINE: Bellarmine is currently 0-0-1 to start the year, having played Northern Kentucky to a 3-3 draw in its lone game thus far. The Knights' three goals came from three different sources as Brielle Heuglin scored and played the full 90 minutes. In goal, Cambria Kingman got the start and allowed a goal in the opening half while Shelby Smith came off the bench and allowed two second half scores.
SCOUTING SIUE: SIUE enters the week at 0-2, having dropped home matches to Missouri State and Milwaukee. The Cougars have been outscored 5-1 in the season's first two games with Ella Robinson having SIUE's lone score off an assist from Macie Begley. In goal, Taylor Spiller has played all 180 minutes with a 2.50 goals against average and 10 saves.
