INDIANAPOLIS - IU Indianapolis senior midfielder
Emma Frey was honored by the Horizon League office on Friday (Oct. 31) as she was voted the league's Sportsmanship Award winner and Second Team All-Horizon League by the head coaches. Frey recently capped another standout season for the Jaguars, starting all 18 games in the midfield.
She finished the season with a team-high 1,608 minutes played, sitting out just 12 minutes the entire season. She also finished tied for the team-lead with four assists and also tallied the game-winning goal in the road win at Cleveland State on Sept. 28. She closed the season with three assists in the final two games, collecting an assist in the 2-2 road draw at Oakland (Oct. 25) and following with two assists in the 3-0 victory over Purdue Fort Wayne (Oct. 29).
Frey was previously voted to the Horizon League's All-Academic Team by the league's faculty athletic representatives.
The Cincinnati-native was voted as the league's Sportsmanship Award Winner after playing virtually every minute and only being issued one yellow card the entire season and two in her entire collegiate career. Previously, she was named IU Indy's Michael A. Carroll Scholarship Award winner prior to this season for her work in competition, in the classroom and in the community. She served as team captain and was instrumental in assisting with the program's coaching transition prior to this season.
