INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's soccer program has announced its 2023 slate, including 10 home games and road matches at Butler and Dayton. Head coach
Chris Johnson's team is looking to build off a highly successful campaign against a strong schedule in 2023.
The Jaguars will open preseason play with road games at Eastern Illinois (Aug. 10) and Toledo (Aug. 13) ahead of the regular season home opener against Southern Indiana (Aug. 17). IUPUI will also host Southern Illinois (Aug. 20), SIUE (Aug. 27), Tennessee Tech (Sept. 3) and Lindenwood (Sept. 10) during non-conference play. The Jaguars will make non-league trips to Bellarmine (Aug. 24), Butler (Aug. 31) and Dayton (Sept. 7) before Horizon League play begins.
Horizon League play will open on Sept. 14 when the Jags trek to Northern Kentucky for a meeting with the Norse.
The Jaguars are coming off a 9-4-6 campaign and an appearance in the Horizon League Tournament semifinals before falling to eventual champion Milwaukee. Johnson's team will return the bulk of the team's attack from a season ago in forwards
Emma Antoine (6 goals, 2 assists) and
Sam Slimak (3 goals, 3 assists) and midfielder
Emma Frey (3 goals, 2 assists). Sophomore
Kailyn Smith was second on the team in minutes played last season and junior
Makenna Collins was third from her defensive spot. Other returning starters include
Leah Shumate (13 starts, 1 assist) and
Alex Stocker (12 starts).
In goal,
Ashton Kudlo made 16 starts a season ago with a 0.88 goals against average and six shutouts with an 8-2-6 record. For her career, she's registered a 0.83 GAA in 18 career appearances.
