Jaela Johnson led the Jaguar offense with 18 points, as the IUPUI women's basketball team fell in a hard fought battle to in state rival Ball State, 67-63. The Jaguars led for most of the game but couldn't hold onto the lead in the fourth quarter.
Three Jaguars scored in double-digits while Ball State's Marie Kiefer led the way for the Cardinals with a double-double at 15 points and 10 rebounds.
IUPUI outscored the Cardinals in the opening quarter at 15-13 and held onto that lead through three quarters.
Katie Davidson was just starting to heat up with 13 points when she drew her fifth foul in the final quarter.
Despite leading for most of the game, IUPUI couldn't hold on to the lead in the fourth quarter as turnovers proved costly. Ball State recorded their highest mark from behind the arc at .600 percent to take the lead in the fourth quarter.
Johnson led the Jags with 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting with a 4-for-9 mark from three. Tahlia Wlaton followed with 17 points shooting 6-for-12 from the field. Davidson also recorded double-digit points at 13 with a 4-for-5 mark at the free throw line. Walton led in rebounds with six while
Faith Stinson,
Abby Wolterman and
Jaci Jones each collected five. Walton also led in assists with six.
The Jags drop to 1-4 on the season and will travel to Ohio to face the Bobcats on Sunday, November 26 at 1:00 PM.
