INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI women's tennis team kicked off the 2023 spring season last week against Ball State and will now return to Indy to host Western Illinois in their home opener with first serve at 12:00 PM at West Indy.
Coming off a season with injuries and low numbers, the Jags and new head coach
Pawel Gajdzik fell in their season opener at Ball State 7-0. IUPUI lost the doubles point to start the meet then fell in singles.
Makenzie Myers fell in the number one spot while
Samantha Hayward fell at number two singles.
Emma Dell fought in the first set but fell in the second set while
Grace Lampman fell at number four singles.
Sarah Lounsbury lost at number five singles and
Marta Krakowski lost at number six singles.
While the Jags enter the weekend 0-1, this match will mark Western Illinois's first match of the spring season.
IUPUI and the Leathernecks will begin the match with doubles play at 12:00 PM at West Indy.
