INDIANAPOLIS – With a fifth set going into extra points, 16-14, the Jags fell to Purdue Fort Wayne in a five-set thriller, 3-2.
Briana Brown led the attack with 17 kills followed by 12 kills from
Allie Pogue.
The Mastodons (5-8, HL: 1-1) won the opening set, 25-16, hitting .441 with 18 total kills while the Jags hit .258 with 12 kills. IUPUI quickly recovered with second and third set wins, 25-21, 25-20.
In the fourth set the Jags and Mastodons tied a total of 16 times with eight lead changes. Purdue Fort Wayne ended the fourth set on top in extras, 28-26. After five ties and one lead change, the Mastodons finished the match with a 16-14 fifth-set win.
Sophomore Brown lead the Jaguar attack with 17 kills while Pogue followed with 12 kills. Freshman
Morgan Ostrowski was the most accurate with 10 kills on 23 attempts.
Darragh Dixon totaled 30 assists while
Sidney Veatch added 16 assists.
Addie Evans led the defense with 22 digs.
Emma Ashcraft collected four aces while
Brooke Phillips and Evans added three each.
The Jags are now 6-8 overall and 0-2 in #HLVB play and will next host Milwaukee on Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 6:00 PM.
