PEORIA, Ill. – The IUPUI volleyball team opened the CEFCU Classic with a 3-1 win over St. Thomas on Friday afternoon to even their overall record at 5-5. Sophomore
Briana Brown led the attack with 19 kills followed by senior
Allie Pogue with 15.
The Jags started off strong with a first set victory, 25-23. IUPUI totaled 15 kills with a .286 hitting percentage in the opening set. St. Thomas took a close second set, 26-24. IUPUI recorded their worst hitting in set two with a .159 hitting percentage and 12 kills.
IUPUI came back and retook the lead in the third set with a 25-19 victory hitting .290 with 12 kills. The Jags finished it off in the fourth set, 25-22, hitting .208 with 17 total kills.
Brown led the Jaguars attack with 19 kills (.214). Pogue was close behind with 15 kills and team-best .300 hitting percentage.
Darragh Dixon recorded 30 assists and
Sidney Veatch collected 16 assists.
Addie Evans led the defense with 22 digs followed by Dixon with 15,
Emma Ashcraft with 11 and Brown with 10.
IUPUI continues the CEFCU Classic tomorrow when they face Western Michigan at 3:00 PM ET and host team Bradley at 7:00 PM.
