INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's and women's cross country teams announced their schedules for the upcoming season on Monday (July 25), consisting of six meets in the upcoming campaign. The men's and women's teams will run identical schedules with four of the six scheduled meets coming inside state lines.
The Jaguars will open at the Mastodon Opener on Sept. 2 before running the John McNichols Invitational at Indiana State on Sept. 17. They will then run Notre Dame's Joe Piane Invitational on Sept. 30 and cap the regular season at the Bradley 'Pink' Classic on Oct. 14. This year's Horizon League Championships will be held in Rochester, Mich., on Oct. 29 and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championships will take place in Terre Haute on Nov. 11.
Head coach
Justin Roeder's men's team is riding three straight Horizon League titles and a tenth-place finish at the Great Lakes Regional in 2021. The Jaguars put up a 30-point effort at last year's Horizon League Championships and return four all-league performers in
Nick Perkins,
Nate Kaiser,
Mitchell Gits and
Grant Moon. Roeder's team also returns four other entrants from last year's league championships in
Mitchell Rans,
Eric Petersen,
Justin Amburgy and
Wilson Whicker.
Head coach
Antonio McDaniel's team was decimated by injury during the cross country season, but returns a solid core in
Madison Fry,
Sophia Taylor,
Kara Krol and
Laci Provenzano, all of whom finished among IUPUI's top seven at last year's league championships. The team's success will hinge on the health of three individuals who missed last year's cross country season -
Ellie Cates,
Sophie Reichard and
Hannah Sale. All three finished among IUPUI's top five at the 2020 Horizon League Championships at Northview in March 2021.
More preseason information will be available closer to the start of the season.
