INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI Athletics Department announced its 2022 men's soccer schedule on Thursday (June 9), keyed by nine home matches under first-year Head Coach
Sid van Druenen. The Jaguars' first-year leader will make his regular season debut against Marian at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on Aug. 25 as part of a home doubleheader.
IUPUI will face a pair of teams from last year's NCAA Tournament field in reigning Horizon League Champion Oakland (Oct. 22) and Saint Louis (Oct. 18), both on the road. Saint Louis was one of the tournament's top seeds a season ago and advanced to the national quarterfinals before falling to Washington. IUPUI's non-conference slate includes home matchups with Marian (Aug. 25), Eastern Illinois (Sept. 2), Western Illinois (Sept. 4) and Belmont (Sept. 20). The Jaguars will step out of league play for road trips to Evansville (Aug. 28), Loyola Chicago (Sept. 13), Butler (Oct. 8), Saint Louis (Oct. 18) and Bellarmine (Oct. 25).
The Jaguars will open Horizon League play against van Druenen's former program, Wright State, on Sept. 10 in Dayton. The Jaguars will have a rare home match at Grand Park in Westfield against Purdue Fort Wayne on Oct. 29 and will round out the regular season on the road at Robert Morris on Nov. 2. The Horizon League Tournament will begin on Nov. 6 with the championship match being played on Nov. 12.
IUPUI brings back four starters from last year's squad in
Logan Finnegan (3 goals),
Luke Liljegren (7 starts) and
Chris Workman (1 goal) and goalkeeper
Lucas Morefield (1.51 GAA). Finnegan was the team's top scorer with three tallies and also paced the Jaguars in shots (27), shots on goal (11) and game-winners (2).
Rayan Choukri also returns to an attacking spot and tallied a game-winner a season ago.
All total, the Jaguars return 11 letterwinners and six redshirts from last year's club. IUPUI announced 10 signees earlier this spring and will announce a second wave of signees later this summer.
In addition, broadcast and promotion details will be announced at a later date.
