INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI softball team fell to the Butler Bulldogs on Tuesday evening, 5-0. The Jags offense only recorded two hits in the game,
Rachael Gregory and
Mackenzie Myars each recorded a single.
Butler (27-14) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning with a sacrifice fly. The extended their lead in the bottom of the second frame with four runs on three hits. With the bases loaded and two outs, Ella White hit a bases clearing triple to right field then Monique Hoosen tripled to right center to score White and extend their lead to 5-0.
The Jags couldn't plate a run and left four on base in the loss.
Carly Metcalf (L, 2-9) took the loss on the mound for IUPUI giving up five runs on four hits in two innings of work.
Jasmin Speth entered in the third inning and threw four scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
IUPUI returns home for their last home series of the season when they face Green Bay in a doubleheader on Friday (April 29) at 1:00 PM/3:00 PM and a single game on Saturday (April 30) at 1:00 PM.
