NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Seven Jaguars recorded hits while graduate student
Hailey Pop and freshman
Ashley Shelton each collected an RBI to lead IUPUI to their first win of the season on Friday afternoon over Tennessee State, 2-0.
IUPUI (1-5) jumped on the board in the top of the second inning after
Jordan Barnes reached on an error by the Tiger's second baseman to lead off the inning.
Maicey Bedrick came in to pinch run and advanced to second on a wild pitch to move into scoring position.
Jaylin Calvert moved Bedrick up sixty feet with a groundout to second and Pop singled to shortstop to score Bedrick and give the Jags the early 1-0 lead.
With one out, Barnes once again reach based, this time with a single up the middle by
Jaylin Calvert. With runners on first and second, Pop walked to load the bases for Shelton. Shelton reached on a fielder's choice which allowed Barnes to score from third and extend the Jaguar lead to 2-0.
Tennessee State (3-3) threatened in the bottom of the fifth inning after loading the bases with one out. After an out at the plate,
Madison Bryant shut the threat down with a swinging strikeout. Bryant held off the Tiger's offense and earned the win on the mound for the Jags with seven strikeouts.

Kasie Keyes also recorded hits for the Jaguars.
IUPUI looks to continue their success tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 19) with two games. The first game, against Miami (OH) will start at 2:00 PM ET and the second game against Bradley will begin at 7:00 PM ET.
