ELON, NC – The IUPUI softball team closed out the first weekend of play with a loss to Saint Francis on Sunday morning, 13-0. The Red Flash outhit the Jags 13-2.
Victoria Sivert and
Abbey Haas recorded the two hits for IUPUI while
Kasie Keyes and Haas each reached base via walks.
Saint Francis (3-1) took the early lead in the bottom of the first inning with a two-run home run over the center field wall. The Red Flash took advantage of a throwing error to score one more in the first, taking a 3-0 lead. A couple innings and back-to-back home runs from Sydney Baker and Mekenzie Saban later, Saint Francis put up a five spot in the third and fourth innings to extend their lead to 13-0.
IUPUI (0-5) couldn't cross the plate and fell to the Red Flash in five innings, 13-0. Haas went 1-for-1 with a single and a walk.
The Jags travel to Nashville next weekend (Feb. 18-20) for the Roar City Invitational, hosted by Tennessee State. They kick off the weekend with one game on Friday (Feb. 18) at 2:00 PM against Tennessee State then face Miami (OH) and Bradley on Saturday (Feb. 19) at 1:00 PM and 6:00 PM. The Jaguars will finish out the weekend on Sunday (Feb. 20) with two games, the first versus Miami (OH) at 1:00 PM followed by Tennessee State at 3:30 PM.
