INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI women's golf program and head coach Jamie Broce announced the signing of in-state product Sami Lawrence (Newburgh, Ind./Castle) to a National Letter of Intent to join the Jaguars' program, beginning in the fall. A multi-sport athlete, Sami has excelled at Castle High School and is the Jaguars' first signee for the 2023 campaign. 

"Sami is an amazing young lady. She's a volleyball player turned golfer and is a tremendous athlete," Broce said. "She has improved exponentially over the last couple of years. She has a contagious personality and will have a great impact on the team and her teammates."

She helped Castle to an IHSAA State Runner-up finish this fall as part of a run of three straight state finals appearances. She helped Castle to a fourth-place finish in the 2021 state finals. Individually, she was named to the ICGSA Academic All-State Team following her senior season and an honorable mention Academic All-State award from the IHSGCA. She's a two-time first team All-Conference performer and earned second team honors her sophomore season. In addition, she earned the Kiwanis Mental Attitude Award as a sophomore and senior and was inivited to compete in the Yestingsmeier Cup Tournament each of the past three years. 

Academically, she's a two-year member of the National Honor Society and collected Scholastic Academic Letters each of her four years. She intends on majoring in biology at IUPUI.
