WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The IUPUI swim and dive team competed in the Indiana Intercollegiates at Purdue today, with the men finishing second out of eight teams (497 points) and the women finishing third out of eight teams (326.5 points). The day was highlighted by three tops times from
Spencer Jyawook,
Logan Kelly and
Emmaleigh Zietlow and a second-place finish in the 1-meter dive by
Sebastian Otero.
Otero led the Jags on the boards with a second-place finish in the 1-meter dive with a score of 348.15 and a third-place finish in the 3-meter (333.70).
Alex Scott followed earning third in the 1-meter with a score of 276.55 and fourth in the 3-meter with a score of 279.30.
Blake Vanderjeugdt finished fifth in both the 3-meter and 1 meter while Levi Voerreyer finished sixth in the 3-meter.
Sadie Smith earned fifth in the women's 1-meter dive with a score of 239.20 and sixth in the 3-meter with a score of 263.70.
The men finished second just behind host team Purdue. Jyawook earned the top spot in the 100 fly with a time of 49.30.
Logan Kelly won the 100 breast with a time of 55.01. The 200 free relay team made of Jyawook,
Kevin Burke,
Ben Kimmel and
Omar Fathallah also took home the top spot with a time of 1:24.17.
Other top five finishes for the men include
Dane Charleston in the 100 back with a third-place finish (50.83),
Luke Dibley in the 500 free with a third-place finish (4:45.99), Burke in the 50 free with a fourth-place finish (20.98) and Kimmel with a fourth-place finish in the 100 IM (52.25). Kelly recorded a fifth-place finish in the 100 IM (52.46),
Isaac Wilson finished fifth in the 100 fly (51.17) and
Maxwell Blume with a fifth-place finish in the 100 breast (58.28).
The women's team finished third behind Purdue and Ball State. Zietlow recorded another win on the season in the 500 free with a time of 4:59.28. She also finished fourth in the 100 free with a time of 53.29. Lilly Brandt finished second in the 100 free (52.37) and fifth in the 50 free (24.31).
Emma Theobald finished third in the 100 back with a time of 58.23 and fourth in the 100 IM (1:00.67). The women's 200 free relay team made up of Zietlow, Brandt,
Priscilla Zavala and Gabby Puryear-Lynch finished fourth with an overall time of 1:38.77.
The Jags travel to Wisconsin next week to kick off #HLSD competition with Green Bay on Thursday, October 27 at 4:00 PM and Milwaukee on Friday, October 28 at 2:00 PM.
