SWIM AND DIVE CONCLUDES HOUSE OF CHAMPIONS

The men's team finished on top while the women's team finished in sixth

INDIANAPOLIS - The IU Indy swim and dive team wrapped up day three of the annual House of Champions Invitational with record-breaking speed and a series of top performances. After the last day of competition, the IU Indy women's team finished at sixth with 1265.5 points. The IU Indy men's team took first with 2462.5 points.
 
Hugo Arteaga opened the night with a victory swim, winning the men's 50 butterfly with a time of 21.13, breaking his own meet record from 2024. Teammates David Niemiec took fifth (21.92) and Isaac Wilson took seventh (22.15).
 
The men's 200 backstroke featured three Jags in the championship final. Grayson Tidwell led the group with a fourth-place finish of 1:47.54, followed by Seth Cannon in seventh (1:48.87) and Jack Gallob in eighth (1:50.20).
 
Vicky Surdyka placed third in the women's 200 breast consolation final with a time of 2:21.17. On the men's side, Logan Kelly delivered a dominant win of 1:54.98, breaking a meet record that had stood since 2016. Zach Drotar followed finishing fourth (1:59.75).
 
Kelly dominated in the men's 100 IM, adding his second meet record of the night with a time of 49.71. IU Indy stacked the final with strong swims from Tidwell in fifth (50.74), Wilson in seventh (51.31), and Gallob in eighth (51.66).
 
Blake Vanderjeugdt claimed victory on men's platform diving with a final score of 308.80. On Friday, (Nov. 21) Alaina Heyde placed second in women's 1-meter diving with a final score of 261.55. Lindi Jenkins placed sixth with a final score of 248.50. For men's 3-meter diving, Sebastian Otero claimed second with a score of 389.90 and Vanderjeugdt claimed third with a score of 337.70.
 
The Jags closed the evening with two strong competitive relay performances. The women's 400 freestyle relay A-team finished sixth in 3:27.38, while the men's A-team claimed fourth in 2:58.44.
 
IU Indy ended day three with momentum and multiple record-breaking swims, rounding out an impressive weekend at the annual House of Champions Invitational.
