ROCHESTER, Mich. – The IUPUI volleyball team fell to the Oakland Golden Grizzles in four sets on Friday night on the road, 3-1.
Briana Brown led the Jaguar attack with 13 kills.
In the opening set, the Jags took the early lead 12-6 and led for most of the set until the Grizzles tied things up at 13 and took the lead with after a few attack errors by the Jags. Oakland won the first set 25-19 to take the 1-0 lead.
The second set was a back-and-forth battle that ended in extra points, 31-29 in Oaklands favor.
Emily Alan tied things up with a kill at 28-28 but it wasn't enough as the Golden Grizzles took the 2-0 lead.
IUPUI stayed alive in the third set winning 25-23.
Emma Ashcraft closed out the set with a service ace. Oakland took set four to seal the match win, 25-20.
Brown led the Jaguar attack with 13 kills followed by
Allie Pogue with 10 kills.
Millai Madison added eight kills hitting .261 and Alan totaled seven kills with a hitting percentage of .231. Ashcraft led the defense with 19 kills followed by
Addie Evans with 17.
Morgan Ostrowski, Evan and Brown each collected three service aces.
The Jags travel to Cleveland State to face the Vikings tomorrow night at 6:00 PM.
