INDIANAPOLIS – The IUPUI diving team competed for the first time in 2022 as they hosted the Ball State Cardinals Thursday afternoon. The day was highlighted by freshman
Alex Scott's top scores in the men's platform event and men's 1mtr.
Sadie Smith showed a strong performance with a first-place finish in the women's 1 mtr.
First up for the Jags was Smith, Deirdre Leib and
Gillian Karsten in the women's 1 mtr. Smith earned the first-place finish with a score of 287.85. Leib and Karsten came in fifth and sixth respectively. In the women's 3 mtr event, Smith took second place with a score of 257.33.
For the men, Scott led the way with his career-high score in the men's platform event with a score of 323.55. With his high score he qualified for the NCAA Zone C Diving. Scott also earned a first-place finish in the 1 mtr event with a score of 288.23, followed closely by freshman
Adam Schmehl with a score of 282.38 to seal a second-place finish.
Levi Vorreyer took fourth and
Kyle Huehn earned fifth. In the men's 3 mtr dive,
Adam Schmehl placed second with a score of 292.80 and Huehn followed in third with a score of 265.35.
The IUPUI women's swim team will be back in the pool tomorrow when they host Butler and Indiana State at 2:00 PM.
