JAGUARS CLOSE OUT COMPETITION AT CSCAA NATIONAL INVITATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Several Jags posted strong performances in the three-day meet

OCALA, Fla. – The IU Indy swimming and diving teams competed at the 2026 CSCAA National Invitational Championship from March 12–14, with several Jaguars posting strong performances against a national field.
 
IU Indy saw multiple swimmers reach championship and consolation finals throughout the three-day meet, highlighted by a pair of top twenty finishes in the men's 50 backstroke. Senior Jack Gallob placed seventh overall after touching in 22.37 in the championship final, while teammate Grayson Tidwell earned a 13th-place finish in the consolation final with a time of 22.36.
 
The Jaguars also earned a top-eight relay finish in the 200-yard medley relay, where Gallob, Shane Tebeest, Isaac Wilson, and David Niemiec combined for a seventh-place time of 1:27.40.
 
Individually, Wilson added several strong performances in the 100 fly finishing in seventh with a time of 47.44, 100 IM finishing in ninth with a time of 49.60 and 50 fly finishing 11th overall with a time of 21.46 in the B final.
 
Additional Jaguar men recorded solid swims in preliminaries throughout the meet. Gallob posted a 50.96 in the 100 IM, while Tidwell touched in 50.85 in the same event.
 
Other IU Indy competitors included Hugo Arteaga (22.01), Noah Van Zuidam (22.23), and David Niemiec (22.26) in the 50 butterfly prelims, along with Zach Drotar, who recorded a 1:49.83 swim in the 200 IM preliminaries.
 
Tebeest also represented the Jaguars in the 50 breast, placing 10th overall with a time of 25.03.
Overall, the men's team finished the championship with 207 team points finishing in 19th out of 30 teams.
 
On the women's side, Addy Hirsbrunner led the Jaguars in the 50 backstroke, swimming a 25.82 in prelims, while Chloe Yerkes added a 26.64 performance in the event.
 
Vicky Surdyka competed in multiple events for IU Indy, recording a 1:03.97 in the 100 breaststroke and a 58.93 swim in the 100 IM preliminaries.
 
Luca McGee also raced in the 100 IM, touching in 58.40, and added a 29.56 in the 50 breast.
