INDIANAPOLIS – IUPUI women's tennis returns home for two matches against Cleveland State over the weekend. The Jags and Vikings will square off on Saturday (April 10) and Sunday (April 11).
Both matches against the Vikings will be at 2:30 p.m. and will take place at the West Indy Racquet Club.
ABOUT IUPUI
The Jags are still looking for their first win of the Horizon League season after falling in both matches at Milwaukee last weekend.
Samantha Hayward had the best weekend for the Jags, winning both of her singles matches and going 1-1 in doubles play. Hayward is now tied for second on the team with
Sarah Lounsbury with four singles wins.
Meghan Bernard continues to lead IUPUI with five singles wins on the season.
Bernard and Hayward have been the best doubles team for IUPUI this season with a 4-3 overall record as a duo.
SCOUTING CLEVELAND STATE
Cleveland State is 4-9 on the season and 2-4 in Horizon League play. The Vikings picked up back-to-back 7-0 wins over Oakland last weekend.
Miruna Vasilescu and Blanche Lenoan are the top two players for the Vikings. Vasilescu leads the team with an 11-2 singles record and Lenoan is right behind at 10-3. No other Viking has a record over .500 on the season.
Lenoan and Kateryna Avram are the top doubles team with 9-4 mark on the year.
ALL-TIME vs CLEVELAND STATE
IUPUI is 4-5 all-time against Cleveland State but have lost the last four matches to the Vikings. The last match was a 7-0 Cleveland State win back in 2019.
