JAGUARS RETURN HOME TO HOST NORTHERN KENTUCKY ON SATURDAY

IUPUI to take on Norse at 2:00 p.m. at Carroll Stadium

3/5/2021 3:43:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS - The IUPUI men's soccer team will be back home on Saturday (Mar. 6) when the Jaguars host Northern Kentucky at 2:00 p.m. inside the on-campus Michael A. Carroll Stadium. There will be no live broadcast of Saturday's match but live stats will be available at kickoff. Fan attendance will be limited to player guests only at Saturday's contest.

Head coach Brian Barnett's team is coming off a tough 2-1 loss at UIC last week as it yielded a pair of second half goals to the league's lone unbeaten team. Senior Matthew Skaar tallied the game's first goal in the 24th minute off a Chris Workman assist. However, UIC put goals past IUPUI rookie goalkeeper Lucas Morefield in the 57th and 68th minutes to come-from-behind.

Morefield asserted himself well in his collegiate debut, making five stops in the loss. In addition, IUPUI knocked on the door down the stretch as both Tommy Patacca and Anthony Saporito had scoring opportunities go by the boards late in the contest. Patacca had a team-high four shots while Gianni Catenacci and Saporito had two each.

ON THE SIDELINES
Head coach Brian Barnett is in his fifth year on the Jaguars' sidelines, having taken over the program just prior to the 2016 campaign. He led the team to the #HLMSOC Tournament Semifinals in 2018 before falling to eventual league champion UIC on penalty kicks. Barnett is joined on the sidelines by John Schwien, who enters his first year with the program.

NEW FACES
IUPUI has six new faces on the roster this year in true freshmen Rayan Choukri, Mandela Cybahiro, Max Guidry, Logan Finnegan, Owen Jarrell and Tyler Kaput. Choukri and Cybahiro were teammates for Millennium Indy and Finnegan, Jarrell and Kaput were all three teammates for Galaxy SC. Four other Jaguars - Tylin Broaders, Nate Pendleton, Lucas Morefield and Ethan Miller - are all in line to make their IUPUI debuts after redshirting last season.

SCOUTING NKU
NKU is 3-1 on the season with back-to-back-to-back wins over Milwaukee (1-0), Oakland (2-1) and Cleveland State (2-1). Dylan Bufton leads the NKU attack with two goals and two assists and Sam Robinson also has two assists. Bufton has two of the team's three game-winners while Brodie Sallows also has a winner this season. NKU has outscored foes by a 6-4 margin, despite being outshot 46-40 on the year.
