WOMEN'S TENNIS FACES BALL STATE TWICE OVER WEEKEND

IUPUI will take on the Cardinals on Friday night (March 5) and Saturday afternoon (March 6).

MUNCIE, Ind. – IUPUI women's tennis will look to build on two-straight wins as the Jags hit the road to take on Ball State on Friday (March 5) and Saturday (March 6).

The first match of the weekend against the Cardinals will be Friday night at 6 p.m. before the Jags will take on Ball State at Noon on Saturday.

IUPUI picked up its first win of the season last weekend with wins over DePauw on the road. The Jags swept the Tigers, 7-0 in the first match and won the second match 8-1.

After picking up two wins against DePauw, Sarah Lounsbury leads the Jaguars with three wins in singles play. Three other Jags – Meghan Bernard, Krystal Grubb and Samantha Hayward – each have two wins in singles play this season.

In doubles play, the duos of Hayward and Bernard and Grubb and Gabrielle Ochalik each hold two wins.

Overall the Jags are .500 on the season in both singles play (12-12) and doubles play (6-6).

ABOUT BALL STATE
Ball State is 7-2 on the season and after dropping its first two matches of the year, the Cardinals have won seven-straight matches. The wins include four wins against Horizon League foes with two wins at Youngstown State and two wins at home against Oakland. Ball State has only played one 4-3 match during its win streak, a 4-3 win over Middle Tennessee.

Jessica Braun is the leader for Ball State in singles play with four wins, all coming at the No. 3 spot in the lineup. Both Livia Lukacs and Emma Peeler have three wins for the Cardinals.

In doubles play, the duo of Braun and Peeler have two wins, the most of any team in the Ball State lineup.

Ball State is 16-15 overall in singles play but is just 7-10 in doubles play on the year.
