MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Allie Pogue led the Jaguars with 11 kills but IUPUI was not able to pick up a set win in a 3-0 loss to Robert Morris on Tuesday (March 16).
Pogue reached double-digit kills for the fifth time this season. The sophomore also finished second on the team with nine digs and added one block.
Rhiannon Schuenemann was second on the team with six kills, while
Maddie Haines ended with five kills and eight digs.
Darragh Dixon had 24 assists to guide the Jaguar offense and led the defense with 10 digs.
Rachel Funkhouser was second on the team with nine digs and Schuenemann had six.
In the first set, kills by Pogue and Haines, plus an RMU error pulled the Jags back within one at 9-8 but after that Robert Morris started to pull away. Pogue had another kill to make it 12-10 but the Colonials scored six-straight to take an eight point lead. Alan's block made it 19-12 but that was the last point IUPUI would score in the set as RMU took set one 25-12.
The second set started out with IUPUI falling behind 8-1 but the Jags started to claw their way back in to the set. A kill and ace by Haines sandwiched a kill by Schuenemann and IUPUI tied the set 11-11. With the score tied at 12, Robert Morris used a 6-0 run to break open the set and create a deficit IUPUI could not overcome. The Jags pulled within two twice, at 20-18 and 21-19, but another run by RMU gave the Colonials a 25-20 set win.
Set three was back and forth as IUPUI tried to extend the match with the Jags using a 4-0 run, with a kill by Haines and block from Schuenemann and
Millai Madison to take a 14-13 lead. IUPUI was then plagued by errors as Robert Morris scored nine-straight to jump ahead 22-14. IUPUI would get kills from Schuenemann and Pogue but the Colonials took set three 25-16 to take the match.
